Tirhugh Resource Centre was the recipient of an award by AONTAS (National Adult Learning Organisation) at a function in Dublin Castle on the 4th February 2008, presented by Michael O’Muircheartaigh. The award was given for the partnership initiative with Tuath and LYIT in relation to a pilot Centre of Excellence for Adult Education in the County. The emphasis in this initiative is on team work, social inclusion, and working with other agencies in the provision of a variety of Adult Education Courses, some of which could lead on to third level courses either in the LYIT, NUIG, Dundalk IT or Tirhugh eventually. The award was accepted on behalf of the staff and Board of Tirhugh by John Curran, Manager of Tirhugh, and Valentine O’Kelly Chairperson of the Board of Tirhugh.
