The WEA / OWL program

Opportunities for Women Learning

Tirhugh Resource Centre

What is the OWL Project? It is simply a project set up to create opportunities for women to learn. That gives us the convenient acronym OWL, convenient because, since the time of Greek legend, the owl has been associated with wisdom and prophetic power. What we are trying to do now is to give women a chance to unlock their hidden potential, to use education to discover their individual and collective strengths. The 6 Southern Border Counties (Louth, Monaghan, Cavan, Leitrim, Sligo and Donegal) of the Republic of Ireland now benefit from the implementation of the OWL programme thanks to funding provided by the Border Action Programme for Peace and Reconciliation. To accommodate this work, WEA has opened an outreach office at Ballyshannon. Courses are: • Delivered locally • free of charge • accredited (optional) • We can provide a contribution to care costs.
