About us - The Job Club

If you are unemployed the Job Club will be of interest to you.

The “Job Club”, established in 2000, aims to develop and market the strengths of Job Seekers with a view to placing them in employment. This is a joint initiative between FAS – the Funding body and Donegal Local Development Company Ltd (D.L.D.C.) – the Sponsor. The Job Club is based in the Tirhugh Resource Centre, and outreach work is undertaken throughout Donegal in various location such as Letterkenny, Donegal Town, Killybegs, Lifford, Stranorlar and St Johnston. Job Clubs have been in operation in Ireland since 1995 and each county now has it’s own.

The Job Club is intended to form part of an integrated approach to the needs of the unemployed. It consists of formal group sessions with structured individual support given to each participant for as long as it takes to get a job.

The duration of the formal sessions varies and is typically from three to four weeks for approximately 3-4 hours per day. During the Job Club participants work at developing practical skills required to secure a job. They will examine their current skills and knowledge in light of the changing world of work, and are encouraged to set realistic and achievable work goals. Training areas include, Curriculum Vitae Preparation, Letter Writing, Career and Job Planning, Targeting and Sourcing Jobs, Interview Preparation and Techniques and basic I.C.T. Skills, Employment Equality Act, Confidence Building and have an opportunity to meet guest speakers from other support agencies.

Job Club participants may avail of facilities such as access to a computer and the internet, photocopier, telephone, local and national newspapers, trade directories, postage stamps etc and work on their own, or with the support of experienced Job Club staff. A weekly allowance is given for out of pocket expenses.

Membership of the Job Club is free, voluntary and totally confidential.

Employers, if you are recruiting staff why not advertise your vacancy through the Job Club as we have a database of skilled and experienced job seekers who are enthusiastic in finding work.
